The Dupage Percussion Camp
Deadline is June 15. Sign up before we fill up!
The DuPage Percussion camp is a retreat where young percussionists ages 10-14 learn and discover new skills that will help them along their musical journey. While growing closer to new percussive friends, each participant will learn through exhilarating experiences, and engage in over 10 hours of instruction. All participants will work from an educational curriculum that Dr. Veit has designed after 20 years of experience in percussion, which students are welcome to keep after the camp concludes. They will also receive a pair of sticks and a t-shirt, which is included in their tuition. Concluding the camp, there will be a community performance where all participants will display their new skills, so please mark your calendars and bring the family!
Each day students will participate in two one-hour sessions: 1) Group Lessons 2) Ensemble Rehearsals
During the group lessons participants will receive instruction on various percussive techniques including snare drum, mallets, timpani, and drumset. We will also learn the proper techniques for each instrument , which will ensure each students' future success in rehearsals and performances. Also, participants will discover basic musicianship skills including identifying and analysing melodies, rhythms, and harmonies; the building blocks of the musical language!
Ensemble Rehearsals are where participants will use their new found percussive skills to work towards a performance goal. Together with the retreat faculty, participants will experience effective rehearse skills while learning a new piece that will be performed on the final concert.
Tuition - $95 *
Includes: a pair of Innovative Percussion Sticks, T-Shirt, Educational Materials, and a lifetime love of percussion music!
A snack will be provided everyday. Please inform us of any food allergies!
*checks are to be made out to Andrew Veit
Living and teaching in the western suburbs has been a treat, and I'm looking forward to being a part of this community for many years! As a music educator I feel compelled to contribute to DuPage county by offering this summer percussion retreat. With over 2 decades of experience performing all over the world, I find teaching students in DuPage county to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I sincerely care about the students in our area, and making them better musicians truly fills me a sense of purpose.
